Study Spanish in Argentina : Frequently Asked Questions

Buenos Aires Jan-2007 103 - small

1. Is there a minimum level of Spanish required in order to take a course at Mundo Español?

No, there are no prerequisites for these Spanish programs. There are beginner's level classes so if you have no previous knowledge of Spanish, you will be placed accordingly in a group of students that have the same level of the language.

2. When can I start my Spanish immersion program?

All Spanish immersion programs start on Monday of every week but the student is free to decide on which day he wants to start lessons and also the duration of his course.

3. How do I determine the level of my Spanish and what course I should take?

When you register for a course with Mundo Español, we will send you a placement test and on the first day of classes you will also have an oral evaluation. From these two tests an assessment will be made and you will be placed in a class with students that have a similar level of Spanish as you do.

4. How will the level of my Spanish be evaluated at the end of my course?

Your progress will be evaluated by taking tests throughout the course as well as at the end and a certificate will be given at the end with your final grade.

5. Are there Spanish courses that are customized to learning the language as it applies to a specific profession?

Our "Spanish for International Business" program offers classes geared toward teaching the language for business purposes. Parts of the course are customizable according to the student's field of interest and there are also specific courses offered for lawyers, architects, doctors, journalists and engineers.

6. Can I get university credits from taking these Spanish classes?

Yes, it is possible to get university credit if you choose to study abroad in Mundo Español, and if you are interested in doing so you should indicate this when enrolling for our Spanish programs.

7. What aspects of the language will be focused on?

Our classes focus on written and oral comprehension, written and oral expression, grammar and vocabulary and our topics during class are always specifically chosen in relation to Argentine culture and history (tango, soccer, Argentine literature, etc.)

8. What is the focus of the advanced classes?

The advanced classes will focus particularly on Argentine culture, the more complex grammatical rules such as the uses of the subjunctive, and oral expression to improve your conversational Spanish which will be particularly useful for your travels in Argentina.

9. Will I get individual attention during these classes?

Our class groups are always small with a maximum of 5 students so you will undoubtedly benefit from individual attention. Also, all of our Spanish immersion programs offer the possibility of having private classes.

10. What is the class schedule like?

Classes are held from 930 to 130 from Monday to Friday leaving the rest of the day free to get to know the city and do other cultural and tourist activities, such as tours of Buenos Aires, Argentine tango lessons or visits to museums or other historic sites in the city, all of which can be arranged by Mundo Español. However classes may take place on afternoons depending on the program that you choose and if you are taking for example customized or private Spanish lessons.
