Por Que Cordoba?Founded in 1573 by the Suquía river, the city of Córdoba is famous for being the greatest cultural and services center after Buenos Aires. It has an historic center with one of the most valuable heritages in the country, with a number of churches, convents and old houses dating from the 17th to the 19th centuries with remarkable artistic and architectonic value. The Cathedral, the Compañía, Santa Teresa and Santa Catalina Convents, the House of the Sobremonte Marquee and the Rivera Indarte theater are among the outstanding monuments in Argentina's architectural heritage.
There is also a modern, active Córdoba, a first class university center, a business center, with shops, excellent hotels and services for tourists. The downtown area with its pedestrian walkways and areas, commercial sites, malls, cultural and recreational centers and the Suquía and the Cañada as the axes of a new urban landscape are essential parts of Cordoba's identity.
